Christ is the center of our lives; his love saves us.
The Holy Scriptures are the inspired Word of God.
All people are worthy of love and grace.
God is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. (Exodus 34:6)
We are part of the Evangelical Lutheran Chruch in America. Because we are loved by God, we feel called to love our neighbors. We strive to act like Christ, not because we will be rewarded if we do, but because God’s grace frees us to do so. God's love equips us to live Christ-centered lives in the world, making disciples and telling the world of God's grace in Jesus. Our lives of service are in response to our Lord's servant love toward us.
Lutherans observe two sacraments: Baptism and Holy Communion.
At Coble's, we practice open communion with anyone who has taken communion anywhere else (including children), and we offer first communion classes for anyone who wants to learn.
We baptize infants and adults. Since there is nothing we can do to earn God’s grace, Lutheran baptism is “grace-based” rather than “faith-based.” For infants, the parents and sponsors promise to raise the child among God’s faithful people and place the scriptures in their hands when the time comes. In our baptism, we are united with Christ and sealed by the Holy Spirit, equipped to strive for peace and justice in all the world.
We also practice the rite of Confirmation for youth as they transition to becoming adults.
